Default Little Red has a new cage!

When we got home from our holidays, we found that Little Red had been very, very naughty. She had bar-chewed so much that her poor nose was all bloody and she had a cut on her lower lip. She has done it before, but we have managed to stop her. But this time, it looked like she was really set on bar chewing, and after a few weeks of blocking off the area where we think she has been chewing, and still no improvement, I decided to spend my pocket money and treat her to a new tank-type cage which she can't gnaw in! Souffle and I went out on a tour of all the pet shops in our area, and though we would have liked a Gabber Rex we really don't have room for another and couldn't find any shops that stocked them anyway. We thought we were on a hopeless case but in our very last pet shop (annoyingly the closest one to us! ) we found an ideal little tank that we thought would be just right for Red, and it wasn't too expensive either! It has good open access and a little platform that goes right round. We can put her 'igloo' nesting box and her potty underneath the shelve and though the wheel that came with the cage was too small, we swapped it for her silent spinner on a stand. At first she seemed to sulk a bit but now she seems to like it and is coming out a lot. She enjoys coming out on her platform, and her nose is completely healed! Good thing too as she has a show on Sunday! Here are some piccies!

Oh, and since Red's old cage is bigger than Sonni's, Sonni now has a new cage and you have never seen a happier ham! She also doesn't bar chew!

Looks pretty nice to me PH! It seems that once a hamster starts bar chewing and its hard to make them stop. Its probably best this way also because now you don’t have to be on top of her to make sure she not chewing, now you can have piece of mind

I’m sure she loves it!

Nice little cage! It looks like a `Fop` tank? I have two Savic Rody tanks at the moment, soon to be changed to two Gabber Rex cages! My third cage is a Ferplast Duna, so I`m happy enough with that.

It must be really frustrating when a hamster startes bar chewing. Tanks prevent this happening. A much safer environment!

It is called a Millhouse from Rydon. It is fairly large and roomy and is ideal for a hammy! Little Red has settled in fine and is really happy with her new cage!

Its about 2 feet by 16 inches by 14 inches. That's just a rough guide though, I'm not quite sure!
