Default Oh no Hazel!!!!

I was planning on entering Hazel in the main show at Weston-super-Mare next weekend, just to see how she gets judged, as for a rescue I think she's quite a good quality hamster and amazingly handleable for her upbringing.

But look at what she's gone and done to her nose.........

She is a persistent bar chewer.....think I've been telling myself it's not as bad as it really is, will probably change her cage to a Gabber or something now.

How many points will this lose her - is it still worth entering her?

In straight or pet class?

Straight not masses a point or two really at most, depends on what else she is up against. It is worth it for the experience, I say go for it It is all anonymous

Was going to try for straight, just to see how she does.

Toyed with taking Toby for the pet class too but he's still not really that comfortable with strangers, I think I'd be too worried that he'd suddenly jump whilst being judged and fall and injure himself. Will see how he's behaving towards the end of the week!

Had a good day today at Weston, ended up book stewarding the dwarves so learnt a bit too

Hazel came 3rd in her class (out of 5) which I'm pretty pleased with considering the others were all poshly-bred show hams and she's a rescue! Also got best novice but I think I was the only one

I also took Toby, and my rats Dexter & George for the pets section. Dexter won best non-hamster pet and the highlight of Toby's day was peeing over the show secretary's paperwork.......!!!!

Anyway I'm now keener than ever to have some show hamsters myself and breed a litter of my own.......watch this space in the next year or so.

That is fantastic Emma and well done Hazel and the others too. Even Toby for peeing rather than biting
