Real London (SHC) Show - 9th September 2017
The Southern Hamster Club will be hosting the Hamster Section of The Real London Show on 9th September 2017 at Bracknell Leisure Centre.
This is part of a larger event where you will also see Guinea Pigs, Gerbils, Mice and Chinchillas on display and it is free to come and have a look around.
Link to Show Schedule: https://hamsters-uk.org/media/Schedu...0Bracknell.pdf
The pet class at this event will be open to hamsters only. If you wish to bring your pet guinea pig or other rodent then the other sections of the show may have a pet class that you can enter.
The link given on the schedule for public transport information is incorrect and the centre is served by routes 171, 172, 194 (Courtney Bus) and 4 (Reading Buses).

Re: Real London (SHC) Show - 9th September 2017
Just wondering if anyone on HC is planning on attending this show? I went last year and met Pinkneon and Coco61 and had a lovely time. I am going with my dad and entering Jasper in the main class this time around.

I am tempted to go, I'm a first time owner and would love to just get some advice/tips on how to handle hamsters.

I can only go if I can get time off work. Not much chance, but I'll let you know

Re: Real London (SHC) Show - 9th September 2017
I had a great day yesterday although the Metallica show team had to sit this one out as I was doing my 1st assessed judging. I felt it went well and was able to pick up some tips from an experienced NHC judge.
I am pleased to say I passed and points have been identified to help in the future and I hope that in time I will be able to do the club justice.
Thank you to everyone who entrusted their hamsters to me to judge, to my assessor and Book Steward and to GhostsinSnow for being my Pen Steward. Thank you also for allowing me to see one of Victoria's grandchildren, that meant a lot.

Awwwh you're welcome, always a pleasure to work with you at a show
And that's okay, I'm keeping one of the normal boys from the litter so once he's a bit bigger I'm hoping he'll be coming to some shows too, along with his daddy obviously

Re: Real London (SHC) Show - 9th September 2017
Congratulations, Fluffagrams (and well done for volunteering!) Thanks for liking my little crew despite the fact that they're not at their best at the moment.
As I was show sec and the car park's a bit of a walk from the hall I took only 6 hammies - and came home with 7
1st and 4th normal Chinese (Maani and Red)
1st dom spot Chinese (Colwell)
1st and 2nd BEW Chinese (Helen and Mer)
I also got to enter doops and my as yet unnamed girl came 2nd duprasi and 3rd exotic challenge in the gerbil section.
Maani got stolen by the judge and two newbies came home with me: a short haired dark grey and a stripey Chinese from GhostsinSnow.

Congrat, Fluffagrams for passing and scoring well on your very first assessed judging.
Congrats to Vectis and your stunning hams and gerbil for placing so well in the show. I know that you must be so thrilled and proud of your competitive bunch. Also, congrats on adopting two lucky hams from GhostsInSnow.
