Buying hamster at show?
So I was thinking of going to the Andover show in June as my grandparents live there and its literally a 7 minute drive away, anyway I was thinking of possibly buying a hamster there. Is it possible to buy hamsters at shows? I'm a complete beginner when it comes to going to hamster shows. I'm also 16 so would that be okay to buy a hamster if I come on my own? Also how many people tend to be there, I really don't want to stand out as the random socially awkward loser just walking around

Re: Buying hamster at show?
There are hamsters for sale at most shows, and usually Andover has some. I'd suggest contacting the sales manager (whose details will be on the schedule which is uploaded to the NHC website in the month before the show) to ask about whether you need parent/guardian permission.
There are usually a reasonable number of people at the show - I'll be there It's not the biggest hall so hopefully it'll be nice weather again so some folk can sit outside.
I don't think I have a job at that show so you could always find me if you need a hand. Just don't talk to or look at the Vectis dog - he's not a fan of humans

Ahh thanks!
I really hope they do, I've been trying to find a breeder around me but I've found it pretty difficult with them responding/me not fitting the criteria. Do they have all breeds of hamsters or just Syrians? Anyway I hope I can come along just for a little look to see what its like.

Re: Buying hamster at show?
What's available depends what breeders have unreserved at the time so it's hard to know which species will be for sale. If you had a particular species in mind you could contact a breeder and reserve one then meet them at the show, though the show sec won't know who's coming to the show until a few days before, and the sales manager won't know what's booked into sales until the Thursday before.

Re: Buying hamster at show?
I bought my hamster at a show she was 6 months old and is amazing!! She was pretty much tame. And came from a winning family from her birth certificate!
I talked to lots of people and they helped me so much! It was great! I recommend it!
She was sat there on the table she wasn't reserved and it was a here I am moment!

Re: Buying hamster at show?
I spoke to the Show Manager for Southern and Midland Hamster Clubs this weekend and she said people under 18 need parental permission to buy at the shows for which she is show manager (including country show displays).
