Is my Hamster eligible to show or would he be DQ'd?
I have almost 1 year old Syrian Hamster that I purchased at Dawlish Show as a pet last year - I wanted to show him this year for fun, but discovered a few weeks ago he has a Kink in his tail - I am unsure 100% whether it is a break that's healed or a genetic kink, but it seems to be a break rather than genetic.
In the exhibition standards it says if the judge suspects it to be hereditary, then it'll be Mandatory DQ, but my Syrian Hamster isn't Dark Grey or a colour that contains dark grey nor does he have Dark grey in his Ped, only Silver Grey, so I am not sure it's inherited so it must be a break in the tail that has healed, would he be DQ'd or just miss points in the "sores, wounds or scars" penalty?

It would be up to the judge to decide if they felt it was a kink or a break. I can usually tell what it is by the feel of the bone. It isn't just greys who can get kinked tails though as it can appear in other colours. I check all the tails as I go over the hamsters.
If I were judging and I decided it was a broken tail I would deduct from the 'condition' section similarly to how I would deduct there for long toe nails or a ripped ear.
