The 29th October will see the Midland Hamster Club host their AGM Show in Shurdington, Gloucestershire.
Show Schedule: https://hamsters-uk.org/media/2016%2...20Schedule.pdf
I will be Pen Stewarding for the Dwarf Section so will be there. Who else from Hamster Central will be going?

The California Hamster Association has some shows but are obviously only within the California area and consequently, Chinese Hamsters cannot be shown.
I think the absence of shows in some areas is due to the lack of interest in setting them up. You'd need to find a venue, arrange judges, stewards and someone to take in all the entries as well as sorting out advertising for the event and determining a standard in which you're going to judge hamsters against.

Doesn't make sense, that they don't have shows in every state. In every city. Would be fun to have just like the dog and cat shows. If I went, my hams my grow into an even bigger hamily.

I've heard that some places have pet shows including hamsters as part of something called 4H. Not sure if there's that near you.
Running a club and organising shows takes a lot of people and a lot of work. If there aren't that many people interested in showing or they're really far apart that would make arranging shows unfeasible

As far as I know 4 H is for the younger generation. I was in 4H lol, don't remember much about it. Regarding hamster shows, they might have that for children but not professionally. Unless the 4H is something different that I haven't heard of before?
Sounds like you guys have fun with it, so that's good!

Re: Shurdington (MHC AGM) - 29th October 2016
4H isn't that great, and it mostly focuses on larger animals like rabbits! They probably wouldn't have much to offer, unlike the very nice shows elsewhere which allow much higher quality hams to be shown as well as lovely pet hams.
It would be great to be able to have shows though,if at the very least to show that there are wonderful breeders out there

I'll be there with some of the hams, for 2 of them it'll be their first show as they're still "young stock" and I'm book stewarding for dwarfs so practising my poker face :P
