Default Fillongley Show (MHC) - 20th August 2016

Who's going?
I'll be pen stewarding for Dwarf Class and hopefully it's the last show I have to sort transport for as I'm hoping that, whatever my next show is, I'll be able to drive myself but we'll see.
I'm dragging my sister along too (she wants to go really) so at least I'll have company at stupid o'clock on the train

Absolutely wish I could come! Unfortunately I missed the two shows closest to me and this is just too far

I wish I could make it but it was a little bit too far for me to arrange transport/accommodation for at short notice. It was more of a case of poor planning on my part really but I'll know for next year.

Have you Pen Stewarded before Ghosts?

No I've not pen stewarded before. I think I get the gist of it but I'm not sure :/ It's not mega complicated is it?

I really hope I'm driving by Wootton Bassett or I'll be sorting out travel and accommodation for that one lol.

Not really, the basic principles are pretty straightforward and once you've got the hang of it, you'll be fine. I always find it to be an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

I always work weekends so I can't get to shows, unless I book a day off, which isn't always possible.

(I am hoping to make Otherley though as it should coincide with holiday. Annoyingly, WB is my closest show but I'll have to work.)

I know at the beginning they go in class order so number on the pen and then it's order of points isn't it?
I want to start seeing how the Chinese standard relates in person. I know the standard and I have an idea of what does and doesn't look good but it's good to see and hear it in practise if that makes sense

That's a shame Would you be able to book Wootton Bassett off with it being your closest show?

It is yes, with the exception of when you've got two hamsters in one pen that are in different classes such as one Normal Chinese and one Dom Spot for example. In that case you'd begin with putting it in the Normal Chinese first and then when that class is judged, you'd put the pen in with the other Dom Spots. Once both are judged you can place the pen in points order with the points of the higher placing hamster in the pen influencing its position on the bench.

The exception to this is the Non Standard. They're judged after the Duplicate classes do if you've got one Normal Campbells in a pen with one in the Non Standard then the pen will go in points order after the Normal Campbells are judged until after the duplicates have been judged.

I've found stewarding really helpful when it comes to understanding the standards.

It sounds super confusing but I'm sure it's one of those things that make sense when you're there. Showing's not something I've ever planning on doing, beyond maybe a pet class if I have the right Ham but I have enjoyed the couple of shows I've been to in Bath.

WB is always the wrong time of year for me - I can't take time of once we're in the Christmas trading period. Maybe my boss will take pity on this year...
