Some Chinese Hamsters develop what is basically a little cut in the skin on the neck. As yet there's no known cause for them and some Chineseys can get them more than once but as far as my research shows, they've not been reported in other species of hamster.
Here's a photo that I took of Jessie when her first one appeared...

Oh yes I remember now Chesca - oh you got your ham on the 12th! Gives you (and him!) time to prepare for the next one though

Yep quite a while to prepare. Apparently a couple of his littermates went to Andover and they got collected from Sue there, one of them even entered and came SECOND in one of the classes. That's what Sue told me on Sunday. I wish I went to Andover now and got him there.

Are you thinking of the Real London show at Bracknell Chesca? 10th September. LJ will be an ideal age and very tame by then.

The next Southern show is in Bath on 16th July. Is that likely to be an option for you?

Unfortunately, Bath is the other side of the country for me so a little far but I hope to enter in the Real London Show in September
