A couple of show questions
I'm planning to enter my hamsters into Wootten Bassett with Lady May to go into pet class and possibly Lord James in the main class but I've got a couple of questions and I don't want to risk getting it wrong so thought I'd call on the experience of everyone here.
Firstly if I enter James in the main class I've got to hire a show pen as I don't have any. I notice that on the schedules it mentions that they need to be returned clean at the end of the show which is understandable. What kind of cleaning materials do they usually prefer you to use?
The other question I have is whether I am allowed to leave the premises to get some lunch for example? I'm gluten and dairy intolerant and because of that I'm not the easiest person to cater for so I'd have to bring something if I had to remain on the premises.
Thanks,

Re: A couple of show questions
You just need to empty the substrate out then bring some either pet spray and kitchen roll or some antibacterial wipes to give it a good wipe out.
Of course you can leave Most people will go out for a little walk or maybe a snack. They may be able t cater for dietry needs.

Re: A couple of show questions
Not at all helpful with your show questions but if you want to go out for a walk, Bassett is a nice town & the hall is spitting distance from the High Street to walk down which is quite pretty (pays interesting town hall in stilts, fact fans) & easy to find something to eat (shops or cafés).

That's good to know.
I haven't been to Wootten Bassett in ages so remember very little about it.

Re: A couple of show questions
And swindon is only a few miles down the road if you have time for supply shopping. If there's anything particular you wanted to pick up, I can always check the shops when I'm in and let you know if/which one stocks it.

Re: A couple of show questions
You could maybe drop the SHC secretary a note regarding your dietary requirements? They are catering for vegetarians (like myself), it wouldn't hurt to ask

Re: A couple of show questions
If you're an SHC member, then the food is provided at the Wootton Bassett show for you so it's a good idea (requirements or not) to let the show secretary know you're coming so they have a rough idea of numbers for catering. MHC and SHC shows are used to arranging gluten-free, vegetarian and dairy-free food. Veggie and dairy-free have already been asked for!

Re: A couple of show questions
I've just had a thought.
Am I allowed to show one hamster in the pet class and the other in the main class or do they usually prefer it if people didn't do that?
