Wootton Bassett (SHC) - 28th November 2015
The Southern Hamster Club Christmas show is at Wootton Bassett on 28th November 2015. The schedule can be found here:
https://hamsters-uk.org/media/Schedu...tonBassett.pdf
This is the Christmas show so food and drink is included in club membership for Southern Hamster Club members (non-members will still have to pay for refreshments. Members who are attending are requested to email the show sec to help give an idea of numbers for food provision). There will also be a Christmas raffle.
Do come along and wish everyone a hammy Christmas!

I'm hoping to be at this one with Lady May.
It'll be great to meet some of you there.

I'm so disappointed I won't be able to come but I'll be working. I only live a few miles down the road too.

Re: Wootton Bassett (SHC) - 28th November 2015
I've not long got back from the show and it was a good day. I really enjoyed it and spoke to some really lovely people throughout the day. Everyone was so welcoming which makes it so much easier as a relative newcomer to showing.
I spent yesterday deliberating whether to take Lady May as she'd been a bit of a monkey but thought that there wouldn't be any harm in taking her. She was awarded 6th place (last) in her class however I wasn't sure that she'd even sit still long enough to be judged so I'm happy that she's made that much progress. She wasn't the easiest hamster to tame so I'm pleased with her and she's got a lovely rosette.
I entered Lord James into the main class, again I wasn't 100% sure that I was doing the right thing but thought there was no harm in having a go. I don't know how many normal chineseys there was but Lord James came home with a third place.
Everyone worked really hard today so a big well done to the organisers, judges, stewards and helpers.

I was there too, and judging. I enjoyed my day and learned a lot. Thank you to Icycold who did well on first pen stewarding - especially with the cheeky two-to-a-pen dwarfies! I took no hamsters at all to show today. The first time I've been to a show with no hams for years. It did make getting ready and getting home less busy!
Fluffagrams, there were 3 normal Chinese but he got my 'average' mark which is pretty good for a young Chinesey chap and he was ever such a good boy Well done - you did much better than I did at my first main class entry!

It was a toss up between entering him in the pet class or having a go in the main show. In the end I thought we'd have a go in the main show.
Here's my two with their 'winnings'...

Well done Fluffagrams. What a good first show. Aren't they fun? Lovely each fluff came home with a certificate/rosette. The start of many decorations for your hamstery!
Vectis- when you judge a class in the main show and like with other judges an entry may be a ham that you have bred, do the breeder judges recognise their own? Obviously you remain independent, but as they mature, do you still recognise them?

Sounds good. Well done on your first show Fluffagrams and Vectis for judging duty Does anyone have any photos? I'd love to see how the hall looked (I know it well).
With a bit of luck I'll be able to make one of the Bath shows as that's next nearest. Not to show any hams but I enjoyed coming for a look around at the February one this year so would like to make more.
