Hi all,
Today I had the exciting opportunity to be the judges scribe at my local rat club show! I have never scribed before (the one who writes the judges comments) before and it was for varieties class (as opposed to the "less rules" pet class).
I got there really early with the show secretary whom I have made great friends with and helped set everything up.
I decided to bring Tyrion for the small furry class rather than some rats today as I came part way on the train. The pet judge came over to see what I had, he stoked/ ruffled Tyrion and he totally flipped out nearly biting him! I think rat owners are used to being able to be a bit rougher with little ones, tickling them and such but hammies prefer gentle strokes.
I was a bit embarassed and assured him he has never bitten me...to which the guy looked at me and chuntered
Anyway, I spent the day learning all about different rat colours, type, ears, eyes, everything. The judge was really happy to answer my questions & it was so hard to keep quiet with my friends rats and not give anything away!
I looked over at the other table and saw Tyrion being passed around with everyone cooing over him. I felt the pang of protectiveness as I know he sometimes likes to jump out of hands! Luckily he seemed to be behaving lol
At the end of the day I was totally thrilled to have won 1st in small furries with an amazing judges critique:
I think it shows how much of a hit he was with them!
I also won the raffle and came home with some lovely eggs one of the members chickens laid just yesterday..lovely as I live in the city!
I also got a lovely little card from the committee
Looking forward to snuggling up to my ratty boys now on the sofa and an early night.
