Need help with showing please
I'm hoping to enter my first "proper" hammie show in Andover in June, just a few quick questions (there will be many more I'm sure!)
I (obviously) need show pens, where do I get these from?
Do hammies travel to and from the show in their pens or do I put them into them when we get to the show?
How much and what sort of bedding should I use??
Thankies (so far!) x

You can hire show pens for your first few shows. when you book them in you ask the secretary to hire the number you need and collect them at the show.
If you buy pens you can take them to the show in the pens but we always take ours in travel boxes. we buy the plastic boxes with lids from the pound shop, drill air holes and kit them out with bedding food etc for the journey or you can travel them in their cages or in a purpose made carrier if you only have a few.
Short haired syrians and dwarfies are all shown on wood shavings. Normal stuff and long hairs on wood based cat litter (we use morrisons stuff). You just need to cover the floor. Not too deep or else they kick it all out. Each pen needs a piece of fruit or veg in it. We use a chunk of cucumber. You need to take these and the bedding with you. You will be given a dog biscuit to put in the pen with your entry stickers.
Hope that helps

I am the show secretary for the Andover show Naomi, so when you ring or email me to put in your entries we can talk it all through so you know what you are doing.
Don't worry about it - we are not really scary!!

Yes of course, that is what I am there for. Don't be afraid to ask, even if you think they may be silly questions!

I did mean funny ha-ha (I always come home from shows with face ache from laughing/smiling so much ) but I guess we might be called funny strange by some people (I know my work colleagues think I'm seriously funny strange :P )!
