Anyone planning to attend the Ferndown show?
Hi all,
Me and Charlie are planning to go the ferndown show on 23rd of feb.
I'll be entering her in pet class. There's not much info on it at the mo, does anyone know if there'll be hamster racing (in play balls)?
Also if there are stalls selling anything hamster related I'll be sure to buy them out
So anyone else planning to go?

I know! Ferndown is the only one thats even close to me!
Plus, I have just realised my hospital appointment is on friday, and I might be kept in, depending on how I take the meds, so hopefully I can still make it!

I'll be there with my show crew. I may bring my mice for pet class too
Southern doesn't do hamster racing - that's a Northern thing. There will be a stand with hamster accessories, and probably one with hammocks and knitted hamsters, plus a tombola.

Thanks, Vectis! So,is it just a ham show, or other pets too, on count of your mice?
Will be sure to bring my purse, will definitely end up buying somethings!
I've got Charlie's show carrier all ready! It's like a little plastic Gecko transporter /mini tank thing. I've lined it with newspaper and shredded paper. Pic:
I hope this is ok for pet class?

The carrier is fab, but I would use the hamsters normal substrate and some bedding.
I would also put in a piece of veg, a dog biscuit, and perhaps a wooden chew - as I know this is something pet judges do mark on

Re: Anyone planning to attend the Ferndown show?
I would agree on usual substrate, something for them to do (e.g. tube, chew toy), some food/dog biscuit and a water source (e.g. vegetable, fruit or water bottle). No newspaper as there has been some debate about the safety of dyes used and it can rub off on ham paws - we ended up having to clean some very multicoloured paws in one pet class.
It's just hamsters in the main show but there are pet classes for Syrian hamsters, dwarf hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs and other rodents.
