There will be no open shows for Southern or Midland next year due to a lack of volunteers after they returned for a trial in 2012. Whether there will be a display, I'm not sure.

Actually, this was something I was wondering, why is it that the Southern and Midlands shows are known but the Northern ones aren't? (It's something I wondered since I got the NHC journal on Friday )

I may pop along to some of the more northern Midlands shows, especially if I end up moving to Leeds in March, which is a distinct possibility

Southern and Midland have the same show manager now so he informs everyone of both clubs' shows. When the show manager can let people know depends when the hall dates are arranged and getting hold of some halls and pinning them down isn't always easy as I found out when I was show manager. It's one of those jobs that no-one notices if it goes well, but everyone can give you ideas of how you should be doing it better if it doesn't

I used to be the booking officer for our parish hall and it got to the point where block bookings were being made so far in advance it was ridiculous, so we took the decision not to allow bookings more than 6 months in advance. Lots of other places do the same so I can quite see how it could be hard to plan out a whole year's shows.

What is an open show?

I live near Ferndown, are you allowed to just turn up, go in and look around?
I wouldn't enter anything but might end up buying some things,
I'm not a member of any Hamster Clubs or anything, is it allowed to just turn up and go in? Is there an entry fee?
Thanks!
