They were the ones held as part of a country show, e.g. The Romsey show at Broadlands. The show was on one day with a display of hamsters on the other day.

The address of the Ferndown show will be posted in this section nearer the time. There's no entry charge - you're welcome to just turn up at any time from about 10 til 4 and have a look round. You don't have to be a member, even to enter, and if you did change your mind and wanted to enter pet class you can do this on the day. It's lovely to see new people at shows so do say hi and ask if you have questions

Thanks for replying, Vectis! Ok, I will definetly try and get there (wherever it is) I was just worried I wouldn't be allowed in becuase I'm not a member.
Do they usually sell some hamster related things there, too?

Two of the dates have been updated on the original post - Coventry and Kingswinford.

Hi all

I'm looking to buy my daughter her first hamster. We are veteran animal keepers, but new to hamsters! We've been given some very good advice to buy from a breeder rather than a pet shop.Would the ferndown show be a good opportunity to meet local breeders, and possibly a good place to buy?
We live in Southampton, so it's local for us.

Yes, definitely. If you contact the show secretary they may be able to tell you which breeders will be there so you can contact them in advance to find out what hamsters they are likely to have for sale - and even reserve one if you have something particular in mind.

I reaaally want to go a show and I think, after looking at the places & dates, I will be able to attend the Bath show in July! assuming it's at Claverton Down Community Hall again (checked where past shows were). just gotta drag the OH with me, and possibly bring Badge.
