Default Showing Roborovskis!!

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all well

I know i'm not the only one waiting for Roborovskis to be standerdised (sp.?) , but i really can't wait!!

I have been speaking to Andrew about it and have been told what the standard would probably be, and am trying to breed suitable Roborovskis - so i will be ready to show them as soon as possible!!

I have also been speaking to a lot of people in Finland, where the Roborovskis are currently being shown, and have been sent pics of the show winners - absolutely beautiful!!

I have also been finding out about attending a hamster show in Finland - if possible, as they have very strict rules in place

but all of this is still not helping me to stop being so impatient and excited about being able to show them over here!!

Does anyone know approx. how long it would take to get them accepted for showing over here in the UK? Does anyone know how far the process is currently at?

Not sure what the last hamster was to be accepted, but does anyone knoe how long that took?

Sorry about all the questions!!

Tammy x

I get the impression that they've been "almost ready" to standardise for a few years now! Back last summer the words "in the new year" were mentioned once, but we're a long way past that now. Putting a standard together is harder than it sounds, then they have to figure out how to physically judge them!

they have a standard written i think and its up to the standards committee to approve it along with dove and mink syrians...and maybe others, they are trying to get a lot through, though i do believe some people are not in favour of robos being standardized

still fingers crossed it should be this year...no real idea but andrew is on the standards committee best to speak to him about it.

It is a good idea to get this rolling, the only thing that concerns me is that some people don't really tame their syrians let alone a fast robo and it would be awful if one pinged off the judges grid and was lost or something.

Thanks for that.

I agree they would have to be tame, it would be easy for one to get lost , and very hard to find!!

Do you know why some people dont want them standerdised??

perhaps they could design a new robo show pen that just lifted up at the top so you could put your hand in to calm it first without it being easy for it to jump off. and perhaps a different judging board that had walls or something and a grid bottom with slim wires. i'm sure they'd escape from current dwarf pens, so something new would have to be designed anyway.

perhaps some people just don't like change. I don't really know, but that seems to happen with organisations. people are so keen on tradition and protest against change just out of fear or progression

I think the idea was to show them in Syrian pens, Bunsey.

I would like to see Robo's in the main show - wouldn't like the job of judging them though

I was thinking that the other day, lol!

I would hate to have the responsibility of someone elses Robos imagine if one got lost - i would never forgive myself!

Not that anyone has to worry about me judging, lol! - wouldnt have a clue

It would be a very difficult job though, if they weren't tame Robos!

Maybe instead of show pens only, robo judges could have 'judging pens' big judging boxes that they step into before opening the pen - so if the little speedies escape they cant go anywhere! lol

I have this picture running through my mind of a judge opening the show pen - and this little greased lightening robo shooting out while everyone at the show dives around trying to catch it!
