Default Swindon Shows?

Hi, I live near Swindon and have longed to go to a show! Does anyone know of any shows there?

Yep - and quite a few of us from here will be going - so you'll know quite a few people!

THANKS! I've wanted to go to one for such a long time! What sort of stuff is there? And how much does it cost to get in?

Did you want to show him in the pet class or the main show? If it is the pet class he can either come in his own cage or travel cage. In the main show he needs to be shown in a show pen which you can arrange to hire. Pet classes are usually entered on the day the main show has to be entered in advance.

I'm not sure. I'm not expecting to win or anything and would it be easier if he was entered in the Pet class?

You don't have to arrive as early or stay as late if you enter the pet class. If you have never been to a show before it will give you an opportunity to show Sammy and see what happens in the main show.
There are more experienced people on here who can give you more advice, Highworth will be the first time I have ever shown my hamsters, so I am a novice.

The shows are free to the public and you pay an entry fee of about 50p to enter your hamster in pets. You take him in his cage or a safe carrying box and when you get there you ask the secretary to enter him in pets. They will show you where to put is cage and give you a sticker. He will be judged on tameness and condition not on his type colour etc as in the main show. Hopefully you will win a place
You can chat to all the showers and ask their opinion of your hammie and what is looked for in a show hammy. They need to conform to certain standards and be certain colours so you can ask then decide if you would like to show in main show next time.
I would say enter pets first show so you can see what happens then decide. I am sure you will enjoy it and look forward to hearing how he gets on. I think Holly has a guide to showing on her website.
