Default Mappllewell Show Results

We had a great day at Mapplewell Show. There was a large entry and some gorgeous hams on the bench. It was also our AGM and we were thrilled to welcome our President, Mr Dickie Bird (of the Cricketing fame) to the meeting. I acted as Pen Steward for both Syrians and Dwarfs and was lucky to receive some useful information from both judges. Well done to all who entered and received a prize.

We only took our Syrian Red to the show as Sonni has retired now and Paws was looking 'tired' and 'tatty' as he is moulting! She is a bit past it now though and didn't get anything. We also took our two new Dwarfies Kipton and Bingley. We were very pleased when they scored very well for babies against a big class. Bingley took BIS Junior and Kipton came second so we were very pleased with them!!!

We hope everyone who attended had a good time and hope to see some of you at the next show in Lymm!

We didn't take many pics but here are a few:

There were just a few entries Jane. First prize went to a gorgeous Cinnamon dominatnt spot owned by a little girl. It was judged by Charlies breeder so you really should have come

Well done Pophammy and glad you had a good day. We were really sad to miss it but I think I made a good decision not to come (I can't believe how hard it is to shake this bug off ).

I assume I'll hear about what happened at the meeting in the journal?

You will receive a copy of the minutes of the AGM when they are printed Holly. Hope you get better soon. BigD has now come down with 'the bug'!

I've not seen "viewing or presentation" boxes like that before - are they common?

Do you mean the little wooden boxes suga. Those ones are standard show pens for dwarf hamsters in which all entrants must be shown under NHC rules. The syrian ones are black and more of a cuboid shape. They must all be in the same type of pen so it is fair and the judge cannot tells who's ham is who's. You must add one piece of fruit or veg and are given one dog biscuit of an approved salt free variety. Maybe you have only seen the Hagen boxes as used at BHA association shows. I believe the BHA is no longer operating anymore.
