Well I've been looking on ebay since I found ours in March - and I haven't found another one since! As souffle says there is a specific standard for the pens and they aren't really made very widely - I need a dwarf pen and one (maybe two) Syrian pens - I spoke to Sue at the last show and she said she would speak to the man who makes them and could order them for me when I'm ready.
I hope you do feel that you would like to show Charlie and that you are able to join the club - I'm also sure you'd enjoy the monthly club magazine

Okies - thanks. I'm not gunna buy one yet because I'm not 100% sure whether I will enter him or if I do whether I'll enter him again so no point in wasting money :P
I do want to enter Charlie but I'm worried he'll do reaallllllly craply and come like last (then again never mind if he does lol I still love him :P) or he'll bite the judge he's never properly bit me but has nipped my brother once or twice

Well if I order mine at Rotherham and they've come by Mapplewell I might be able to lend you one for that show as I won't need them all until the babies are bigger

I wouldn't worry about him doing badly - even if he does it's not at all embarrassing unless you make it. At our last show Sparrow was re-classifed as non-standard and got rubbish points but I'm not botthered (we still love him!)...plus Mocha didn't get anything despite doing well at the previous show.
As for Charlie biting - all I can say is that the judges are very experienced handlers and they use the mesh board to help them.

Ooh that would be great if you could Holly If I take him to the show (Mapplewell) in his carrier I hope there's somewhere I can shove his carrier haha.
I'm not so worried about him doing badly now, thanks I doubt he will bite but if he did I would feel like a total prat :P

Oh heck what am I thinking about Jane you can borrow one of ours at Rotherham or Mapplewell when you enter him. We have 5 at the moment and only use three. Jane we have all come last but one thing for sure you always take the best hamster home. All judges are different and the hammy looks different at different times depending if he has a new coat or is moulting. One judge might think he is the bees knees and the nect might not fancy him. It is swings and roundabouts. In two shows Bailey went from being reserve best in the whole show to being second last in the whole show. It does not matter, you still love them, and we take it as fun not as anything to get worked up about. Charlie is unlikely to bite the judge as he is a tame pet. The judges are trained and used to handling hammies They are always getting nipped so dont worry!!
We too are going to order some dwarfie pens Holly

Thanks for the offer Souffle! Not entering him into the main bit at Rotherham but 95% sure I will at Mapplewell. Think I might put him in pets at rotherham, or I might just not take him along at all..I'm not sure yet. thanks for everything you said too, you're right aswell! you do always take the best hamster home and whether they come first or last they're beautiful to us and great pets
Hmm..dwarfie pens? I thought you had no dwarfies? I agree with Holly - something we should know?

don't worry about him not doing very well. we entered a rescue hamster at the last hoyland show and she did terrible. i was a little embarrassed, but no-one batted an eyelid. At the end of the day it makes the numbers up, raises a bit for the club and perhaps encourages non-breeders to enter. can you imagine how dull it would be if only breeders entered?
oh and no matter how terrible you do, you still get best novice cos no-one else ever enters that
