Default Is this Show Pen the same.....

....as the ones used for Syrians in NHC hamster shows? I thought it was from memories of Lymm - but now I'm looking at it again I can't be sure

Also, if it is, does the condition look ok? It's very clean but does have a few tiny chips on the paint in various places - should I paint over these? It's hard to see in the photos but the inside is sort of off-white ....should it be white? If I need to paint, if I do it Wednesday is it then safe for a hamster to spend several hours in it on Saturday????

I've booked a dwarf pen for Saturday but not a Syrian one - whilst I know Mocha isn't going to win anything I don't want him to get marked down 'cos I haven't done my homework on the pen.

Not too sure but at the previous shows I've visited they've looked just like that..?

I think so as well but I'm not 100% sure - I bought it on ebay as a "rodent show pen" (another spur of the moment ebay purcahse!) for 4 pounds......now I'm worried it might not be right. I guess Souffle, Pophammy, Babyboos or several other folks here will be able to tell at a glance!

It is a standard show pen for NHC club shows for a syrian Holly and will be fine for Mocha. It looks in good condition so I would not paint it yet. Ours are a sort of cream colour inside and they were made by the NHC guy so it should be fine. BHC shows hamsters in Hagens so if you went to their shows you would have to get or hire a hagen box.

Thanks Souffle - that's a relief as I didn't want to have to have to find some non-toxic paint and get it painted and dried out by Saturday

You spoke a bit too soon Holly! Yes the pen is great. We have never had to paint any of our show pens and we have had some of them for over a year! If you give it a good clean over after every show they should last you a while.

:P ..I did, didn't I

How well Moxy did is just really sinking in this morning - yesterday, by the time the results were announced, my migraine had taken a hold and I was concentrating on not being sick - and wondering how exactly I would be able to drive home.

As it was I somehow made it home before throwing up. The boys were fab, they put the hams away and fed and watered them - they didn't go as far as cleaning out the pens but, hey, they were very helpful. I'm a bit fuzzy headed this morning but I'll sort it all later.

That was a pretty brilliant show you and Souffle organised - thank you
