It's hard to tell just from that one photo, but he doesn't look that well, looking at his eyes. Maybe just the angle though.

Don't give mite treatment unless prescribed and issued by the vet though as it's quite toxic to hamsters - not safe to just buy it commercially. And it needs a skin scraping to diagnose really to be sure it's mites, before using the medication. Also the vets can actually give a one dose injection rather than topical treatment.

We did have one member on here accidentally used too much topically and her hamsters died a few days later.

It sounds like you just need a diagnosis really. To have mites ruled out, and Cushings tested for via the urine sample.

The protein is very low in the Puur mix at 13%. That percentage is ok for an older hamster though, but if he was on it when younger it could also be a cause of hair loss - lack of protein. Although if mixed with science selective that should balance out the protein. And it sounds like it's only started fairly recently.

Do you think he seems a bit poorly and slow? They hide pain and suffering very well but a couple of signs are - ears down a lot and a kind of drawn look on the face around the eyes. Also sitting hunched.

Do you have some more photos of him from recently? Sorry you're having this. He looks a lovely boy. But his condition doesn't look great does it? Poor thing.

This thread documents a hamster with Cushings disease - you could maybe see if the symptoms seem similar. It shows the medical progress. Coco's thread includes the treatment for it - I believe that is usually for if it's caught early enough, but not sure. It's sad when our little hammies get diseases - which is quite common as they get older.
