Wart/Scan on nose
Just noticed my hamster has a Tiny scab / wart on her nose. She eats and runs on her wheel no itching noticed.

Re: Wart/Scan on nose
Do you think she has been bar chewing? They can often get a kind of sore on the nose from that. Also check any wood items in the cage for anything sharp - some wood houses can have nails protruding (especially if chewed).

Re: Wart/Scan on nose
I sanded all her houses and there’s no nails in her hideouts at all, the only bars she has is in the ceiling. But she has only been here since 25.

Re: Wart/Scan on nose
She can reach the ceiling bars but we haven’t heard her chew and she would have to stand on her back legs. There are nails in her multi chamber house it struck me but to get that I would have to destroy bits of her burrow

Re: Wart/Scan on nose
It's probably worth checking that house but before that she could well be bar chewing the top bars. Do you have any kind of recording equipment you could use at night? I saw our robo climb on top of a tunnel to reach the top bars and hang from them with his nose poking out the top! (Night security camera). I think you can suspect she's been chewing the top bars trying to get out at night. What cage is she in? Female syrians are notorious for needing a lot of space.

Re: Wart/Scan on nose
Cage is 115x60. She’s in the room next to us Ive woken up because she’s been running on her wheel. For some reason I imagine bar chewing would be louder. I’ll try tonight when she is awake to gently have a look at the house. Looking at the pics from when I got her it looks like she had a scab then but it wasn’t as noticeable and she was less inclined to let me just have a look.

Re: Wart/Scan on nose
Also the wood close to the bars that she can reach is completely untouched

Sorry I feel like a pain, that photo is from the first time she put a paw in the cage. To me it looks like there already a scab there, she was very scared in the beginning she hasn’t been with us long at all but the first 2 days she dashed if she even saw me.
Could she have gotten the blemish in the pet store already?
Sorry for pic quality and thanks so much

Re: Wart/Scan on nose
You’re not being a pain at all . The photo doesn’t open for me unfortunately but yes it’s possible she had it already - maybe bar chewing in the store or from a skirmish with another hamster maybe. If it was a scab though, you would think it had healed up by now. Unless it’s just a warty thing she was born with. I’ll wait to see the photo.

Re: Wart/Scan on nose
It’s probably worth having it checked by a vet in case it is something like ringworm she could have contracted at the store. (Just going by your original photo).
