Exclamation Help! Hamster behavioral

Hello!

I have a Fancy hamster, I got her about a month ago. I’m a new hamster owner and me being a very nervous person, I’m concerned about a few things and I can’t tell if this is normal behavior.

This past Sunday I cleaned her Cage as I do weekly and when I went to go put her back I did end up picking her up and she did jump from my hands and kinda landed on her bowl. At least from what I’m aware, she doesn’t seem injured. But last night I noticed she was asleep most of the night and didn’t use her wheel very much and then today she came out and started to chew and knock her wheel over. She has a plastic wheel. She is also trying to chew on the corners of her cage. She has done this before but as of now, that’s all she’s interested in doing. She has chew toys, a treat, food and water and hideout toys in her cage. Her cage is a decent sized tank, bought it as a reptile tank but used it as her cage. She’s around a month old. I’m not sure if she’s stressed or what’s happening or I’ve just over thinking. If I could get an answer ASAP, that would be awesome.

Thank you in advance!

Hi and welcome to HC!

What is a Fancy hamster? What species is she?
Why do you clean her cage weekly and what size of tank does she live in?

A photo of your hamster and her habitat and set up would help because there could be various reasons for her behaviour but without more information it is hard to come up with advice or suggestions.

It would be lovely to have a photo of her and her habitat that way we can give you some good advice. Maybe she is now a bit older and needs bigger things we are all friendly so you will be helped so don’t worry about that

Hi! Sorry I’m very new to this still. My fancy hamster is a Syrian Hamster. By keeping an eye out on her she seems to be doing a bit better, though she’s still chewing on her wheel. Her tank is I believe a 40 gallon tank. I just added more bedding to her cage as well and I do clean it weekly but heard from another person to try my best to only spot clean weekly and deep clean when needed which may also have been the cause on why she was so stressed. I can’t find out how to add a photo, but again her tank is 40 gallons and she has chew toys, a mini house and I just added some toilet paper rolls for her to play with.
