Default Re: New hamster excessive itching-worried!

I'm planning on doing two windows on her bin cage- one on the top and one on the side as you said and see how that goes.
I think the wheel she has right now is 8 inches so I'll look to get a bigger one to make her more comfortable as she grows. As for the bedding, I think I'll leave her on carefresh for the meantime as she seems to not be itching anymore- must have just been nerves.

I also tried the tissue up the sleeve trick today and when I checked about 5 minutes after I put it in her cage she had taken the tissue straight into her house. For the last couple nights I've left her pretty much alone (other than changing food and water)but this evening I went to her cage just to talk to her and rather than running away or just ignoring me and running on her wheel she came over to me yay! I then dropped part of a treat through the bars and she ate it so I then offered it through the bars and she took it from my hand. I then opened up the door to her cage and she climbed up the bars to the door and took another treat straight from my hands. I feel like she's come out of her shell quite a bit tonight and I'm starting to see hints of her personality whether that be due to knowing my smell a bit better or due to feeling more settled I don't know. I'm just happy she's feeling less stressed. Of course, will still be taking it slow with her as I don't want to scare her but it's going well for now!

Thanks for all your help Ria!
