Default Hamster’s fur shorter

Hi you lovely people! I hope you’re having an amazing weekend, and that you are telling yourself you’re beautiful, intelligent, kind and deserve so much love!

So, basically, I’ve noticed that my long haired Syrian hamster Edward doesn’t have his fur tail thing anymore... you know how they have the tail that splits in two? His fur is just quite shorter in general. I don’t see any missing patches and he seems happy and not lost any weight. I’m just wondering if this is something to be worried about or if there are any reasons for it? Thank you!

I don’t know a lot about long haired Syrians but I believe the length of the skirt varies in males depending on how much testosterone they are producing, not sure if this would vary with age but there could be a number of factors I guess but if he’s healthy & happy not something to worry about I wouldn’t think.

This happened with my male hamster Twinkle earlier this year, after about 2 months his fur started to grow again, and now he is such a fluff ball (even fluffier than before) all over apart from the 2 long bits he used to have off his back end I know people have said hamsters don't and shouldn't molt but I'm not so sure.
