I think you are right. I was surprised (and relieved) to find no blood the next day, and there has been quite a bit in the cup that Saturday night, so I'm guessing she caught herself on that, poor thing, and hurt her foot. She acting normally, running on her wheel and happy to play, so it seems to have been minor but bled a lot initially, and I saw it on her bedding in her pee area because she spends time there, I guess.

Yesterday I tried (with gloves on) to turn her over for an examination and it was impossible. She was not into that! We've only had her a little over a month so that's not surprising.

Thank you so much for your help. Hopefully with that piece gone, things will run more smoothly now.

PS She's loving the paper-based bedding
