Is she hibernating or something worse?

Hi to all.

I'm new around here and hope the community can help.

Oreo arrived last week. She is about 8 weeks old now and up till today has been amazing, energetic, friendly, the lot.

I'm Oreo's dad/owner and I just finished upgrading her new cage. When I went to move her she was crouched in her sleeping place. We thought she was dead. I gave her a little stroke and she woke up a little but was wobbling from side to side.

I checked her skin on the back of her neck and she doesn't seem dehydrated.

Her eyes will only half open and she feels fairly cold.

I put her in an electric blanket on low and we are keeping an eye on her before we call the vet.

My question is, does it sound like she's hibernating? She will respond to being called or stroked but not a lot.

What do we do?

Hamsters don’t hibernate, they can go into a state of topor (in the wild this might happen for short periods if the weather is very cold or if food is in short supply) but if they don’t come out of it quickly, warm up & feed they will die.
Gently warming your ham & getting them to the vet as soon as possible is the right thing to do, if this has happened it could be that she got too cold or she could be ill.
The temperature in a room where a hamster is kept should be around 18-20C day & night.
