Hamster keeps having strokes
If someone sees this, please answer back asap.
A few hours ago I found my hamster having a stroke in her cage. I had heard her shuffling around, and figured that she had just woken up and I decided I would feed her but when I saw her hunched over with her face planted in her bedding, I knew that something was terribly wrong.
Did some looking on youtube and concluded that she's having strokes.
I'm a first time hamster owner and I really am at a loss on what I should do to help her.
She's gotten some food and water down, but not much. Every time she tries putting an effort to eat or drink, she has another stroke.
I've been holding her on a pillow on my lap with a soft rag draped over her to keep her warm.
I read online and some sites say hamsters who have strokes should be put down, but others say that they will eventually recover.
I'm not sure what I should do.
Should I put her down? Or will she get better? If she'll get better, what do I do to care for her properly?
Aside from having strokes, she's also having this white discharge emitting from her vagina and her eyes as well. Her vulva is swollen too, and if I'm not mistaken, the discharge around her eyes smells foul. It's a familiar smell, one you'd smell on a sick or dying animal..
Her breathing is shallow and when her eyes aren't crusted closed with the discharge, they're squinted open and staring off into space. She won't even blink. And her teeth look a little strange to me too. Her top teeth looked to me like they were kind of dry and corroded with plaque or something, her bottom teeth were kind of spit and separated from each other. ( hope that makes sense..I'm really not quite sure how to describe everything)

Re: Hamster keeps having strokes
Hello
It certainly sounds like your little one is having a hard time. I would be trying to get her to a vet asap with all her symptoms. If ever worried about your pet, best to get to a vet than try wait for internet responses.
All the best

Hi, thank you so much for replying back to me as soon as you could.
Unfortunately, my little girlie did not make it through the night, and passed on peacefully in her sleep.
Thank you for your help though 💔
