The medicine for fungal the vet gave seems like it may be for humans, it has INOX100 written on one end of the capsule and hovid on the other, capsule is in orange and blue.

From googling it, it seems to be a medicine containing 'Itraconazole' but I'm not sure if these are the ones for hamsters.

The vet told us that's it's up to us if we want to give Pandy the medicine, initially he when he gave us this medicine, he made it sound like there could be risk for Pandy to consume it, now he hasn't replied anymore regarding it.

Anyone know if it is safe? We've still not given him the medicine.

Update:

Noticed today that Pandy had a swollen ball like feel on the right mid side of his back, can be felt from the front depending on angle, it isn't super hard so I don't think it's a tumor, and he doesn't seem to react to it being pushed so it doesn't seem like it hurts to him.

Other than not running much and drinking alot of water, he still eats his food, grooms himself poop a decent amount and pee, just earlier today he was running around excited for a piece of mango so he'll still run around if motivated.

I felt something as early as about a week ago I think, but I didn't really feel around till today, anyone know what could it be? Could it be an inflamed lung? I've not notice the antibiotics the vet prescribed for him having done anything yet for his breathing issue, he has been taking it for a week.

We're supposed to bring him in next week, should we continue said antibiotics to see if it'll do anything to help or bring him in to maybe get a different one?

I’m glad he’s still managing to run around & remaining active.
It’s hard to guess what might be going on, he has some complex problems by the sound of it so it’s not simple or probably even advisable to try & guess, if he has breathing problems then the lump could be a factor in that, tumour or cyst or something else but it would need to be checked out by the vet.
I would ask the vet about the antibiotics, it’s not a good idea to stop a course before it’s finished & sometimes it takes a while for them to be effective but your vet should know if that’s the case or if he needs a different one.

If he sleeps with his ride side exposed from putting my hand on it, I can feel movement in that area, possibly from the swollen part itself, is it possible for lungs to get swollen? We've had a hammy before with a tumor and she didn't want to do anything anymore back then.

Lungs can certainly get inflamed & fluid can accumulate in & around the lungs with various conditions.

How are those typically cured? Would antibiotics resolve it?

Is it a huge risk to them?

You can't know that without a diagnosis so you would need to speak to the vet again.

Update:

So we took him to the vet today to check, managed to do ultrasound too, Pandy behaved pretty well and didn't struggle when we held him, he was definitely upset alot more this vet visit though.

The vet didn't mention much of anything at all about fungal this time around, the ulcer wound on his bottom has gotten alot better, hopefully we won't need to give him any.

But as for that swollen part, from the ultrasound it seems that it's his kidney, the vet says it can't be helped anymore and the other one is not functioning very well either, even though the ultrasound didn't pick up anything about that one, so I'm not so sure about that part, he based it off the blood and protein in his pee from a few months back, but it could have been the UTI too.

For now we're still giving that powder probiotic which will hopefully help him stay as healthy as he can be, can't do surgery or anything either for the other one with it being too risky for hamsters. So all we can do is leave it, personally I hope with the care we give him, it can recover to a certain degree.

As for his breathing, the vet said he could be demonia, but has nothing to really proof is that, he said could be from him inhaling his pee, or his place being dirty, but he doesn't sleep in his pee and we clean his place daily, so I'm not sure, but I think it may be age related, he does calm down when we pet him.

So for now, I think the best we can do is make sure he is well hydrated, watch for what he eats that may put a toll on his kidney and keep giving him that powder and hope he is strong enough to make some sort of recovery on his own.

If anyone can advice on anything else it would be appreciated.

I’m glad you managed to get a diagnosis for the swelling, it is hard when they have kidney issues, I’ve had a couple of hams with that & there really isn’t a lot you can do, there so tiny even though it is helpful to keep the protein low you can’t make any major changes to their diet which will be really effective without having a negative effect on overall nutrition.
Giving the probiotic should help give him a bit of a boost.
I think you’re doing all you can now really & it’s just a case of keeping him as comfortable as possible & considering his quality of life, as long as that seems good he’ll still be having the best life he can.

Should we change anything in terms of the fresh food we give him?

We give him about 3-4 pieces of veggies a day, they vary but consist of bean sprout, bok choy broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, corn, baby corn, cucumber, sweet pea, most of them are boiled before giving him.

He also gets his hamster soup everyday, mainly consist of couscous and pearl barley (usually some cauliflower and carrot bits mixed in).

And he usually gets a piece of fruit every 3 days, fruit may be apple, banana, pear, jack fruit, mango, papaya.
