Exclamation Hamster Help!

Hi everyone,
My Syrian hamster named Neji is about 11 weeks old and has recently started acting very different from when we first got him. He use to be very energetic, going on his hamster wheel and saucer all night, eating and running around in his bin. Recently he has been sleeping all day and night, borrowing himself (which he never did) and hiding for what seems like 24hour periods, coming out only to eat and drink. He seems to be always hiding and sleeping. I noticed that his poops have become light brown compared to how it use to be which was dark brown. There is no signs of wet tail. He just seems very down and lazed out and I am worried that something is wrong with him. He isn't as energetic and excited to play in his house. He has plenty of space (way more then the recommended size), lots of bedding and different tunnels and toys to entertain him. I was thinking that maybe it could be his teeth? As I've heard them to be a lot bigger and making more sounds when he eats.

Please help!

Hi, sorry to hear your hammy isn't feeling well. If his poo is paler than normal, this can be a sign of mild diarrhoea. If he's still eating and drinking then I would just monitor at this stage. Keep him on dry feed as fresh greens can have a laxative effect; make sure he drinks plenty to avoid dehydration. The lethargy is probably just because he's feeling under the weather, but it's likely a virus if he's not showing signs of wet tail.
Make sure he's warm enough and continues to eat and drink. Check his eyes and nose for any discharge as this could indicate flu. If it gets worse or doesn't go away after a few days then make an appointment with your vet.

His change in behaviour could possibly be related to a few different things.
They often become a bit less active once they’ve settled in & the novelty of everything has worn off.
Temperature, I don’t know where you are but here in the UK the nights have got very cold, is the room he is in kept around 18-20c day & night?
Have you been doing much in the way of cleaning? Doing complete cleans, cleaning the nest or hoard area can really upset them & stress them.
Has he had any changes in diet, main mix, treats, fresh food etc that could cause a change in his poo?
If you’re concerned about his teeth then I would get him out & try to get a look at them, is he eating ok? They can be a bit noisy when chewing on things sometimes but it’s hard to know what you’re hearing>
