Unhappy Longhaired syrian loosing hair on on his shoulderblade area

My 5-month-old longhaired Syrian ham (Buddy) started losing hair around his shoulder blades, his skin is starting to show a bit. Nothing has changed in his environment, he's been on the same good diet of Harry Hamster.

The only thing that possibly comes to mind is him rubbing on the edge of the sandbath, but that seems unlikely to me.

I don't think it's stress as I live alone and I'm not noisy.

Last night he was a bit more still than usual, almost like was in "slow mode" and would pause for longer than normal. Any ideas?

I'm in the UK and it's almost 11pm, so I will be taking him to the vet anyway, but I thought I might get some suggestions here first. Thanks in advance!

How big is his wheel? Does it have a spindle?

At that age hair loss like that is most likely to be from rubbing on something, possibly the wheel as Ria said, also any tunnels or tubes, or entrances to houses that are a bit on the small side could be an issue.

This won't be the case as I have a huge wheel, without a spindle, it runs all ball bearings (Silent Runner, designed for sugar gliders).
