Re: Syrian Scent Glands
Wow this is really interesting. If I had seen those before, I probably would have thought they were scabs.

Good to hear - sounds like it was the cage clean and him overscenting! Be sure to add some of his old bedding at clean times to try and settle him.

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
The scent glands are quite hard for me to see because of the colouring of my hamster but i can just make them out.

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
Thanks for showing me! I thought they were scabs when I first saw them, but now I realise they're completely normal.
On another note, in the last picture, your Syrian seems to have tall bumps on the bottoms of his feet. My hamster also has these and I've just been a bit confused about them; are they normal?

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
My hamster is around 10 months old and weight 158g, I noticed something underneath her belly. It looks like a big pink mole and is it also a scent gland?

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
Duffy that is a male hamster and those are his testicles. They often stick out like that if they are warm. Syrian scent glands are on the top over the hips. Were you not aware you had a boy? Can you post another pic of the underneath please to confirm they look OK

I adopted her when she was 4 months old and the person working there told me that she is a girl.

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
It is definitely a boy you have there Duffy. Everything looks perfectly normal so nothing to worry about there. Enjoy your handsome boy hamster. He is lovely,
