Thank you so much for this my wife has had hamsters most her life but never had a hamster who's glands were so prominent we believed our hamster highly stressed due to his glands seeming overgroomed!

Many thanks again

I was wondering what those "marks" were on rolos side. That's one less thing I have to worry about.

This site is brilliant, thank you x

Jed's right side gland is weeping a lot more than usual these last two nights.
The other side is normal. Should I be concerned?

Is his fur missing over the gland LJ? Is there any lump or does it seem swollen? Have you done a clean our or has he been near a lady ham? Check he is not to large for his wheel and rubbing his side as he runs will you.

He's never had much hair cover there Souffle....
He's not been by a lady ham no. Hes fine in his wheel.... ( he tends to run with his right side outward...so it would be the other side if it were wheel related) . Not done a full clean ...he's had fresh bedding last night when I first noticed it. Doesn't seems raised or swollen...but it does seems bigger...like he's lots a bit more fur. X

It doesn't look quite right does it. Usually it is just extra scent due to the cage clean or something but this is normally the same on both sides. Have you seen him grooming at it? It might be worth having it checked out for peace of mind. It does seem like the fur loss is under the scent gland somehow.
