HannahE that Rolly wheel should be fine, It is the same dimensions as the plastic trixie wheel. I know this because I know someone who has both wheels.

Either the one you linked to or the trixie one would be fine

So this one is just over 12inch no gaps. Does anyone recommend
Yes this one is fine too, it is the one I Just linked to in my previous comment. I don't think it is 33cm though as it states in the description- it is more like 28cm

Silent Runners are not cheap wheels, but unlike cheaper wheels they are much higher quality. They last longer, they stay silent, and other members have had Silent Runner wheels last for many hamsters - they're a long term investment that is 100% worth the extra cost even if it may feel a bit painful initially!

HannahE, this is a link to where you can buy the 12 inch silent Runner in the UK which Amityville mentions.

They are expensive but they are silent and last. if you need to attach it to a bar cage you will need to buy the extra attachment, otherwise they just come with a stand.

Hope this helps.

Yes the Savic Rolly wheel you linked is fine Also the 28cm Trixie wheel - Amazon sell it.If you're not worried about it being silent then no need to go for an expensive silent runner wheel. Many people use the 28cm Trixie wheel and fine it quiet enough. Yes it is awful the things pet shops sell! Sadly it is all just commercial and many pet shop staff don't even know what is suitable - they just sell the stuff that is manufactured. There is no legislation in the Uk as to appropriate sized cages or wheels. To be fair, the small wheels that come with cages are usually fine for a dwarf hamster - but not a syrian. But they don't say that! There isn't a single cage I know that actually comes with a Syrian sized wheel.

Don't worry - we have all been there as new hamster owners and had to find out these things.

I have the 28 cm Trixie wheel, I have attached the stand to the roof of my cage and it doesn't squeek this way and is silent enough for me

You can get the 12in Trixie wheel on Amazon for around a tenner. Lots of people use them but i don't like them myself.

I use this one which i buy in an independent pet shop near me but there is a link here for it somewhere. I'll see if i can find it. They're £18.99 in the shop and its a 10in wheel.

Pet shops don't sell wheels for Syrians or cages and don't listen to their advice either.

I did at first because i didn't know any better until i joined this forum. Best thing i've ever done for my hamsters.

This is the link to the wheel Ria shows in her previous post
https://ukpetandaquatics.co.uk/index...ct_id=97690747

I noticed they seem to have gone up in price, you may want to look around to see if you can find it cheaper. Ria says that this wheel is quiet too.

Thanks Luna. They're more expensive online. A lady who adopted a hamster from me recently bought this wheel for a Syrian girl and paid that price. I wonder if they charge postage on top of it.
They run so smoothly and i got used to them i guess so have taken all the Trixies to the rescue. There's probably nothing wrong with the Trixie wheel but i find them a bit hard to turn in comparison.

Just want to give a big thank you to you all for your help!!!!!! You’ve all been amazing and I didn’t expect such a good response, I’ve ordered the trixie one for now but may later on invest in one of the others once this COVID business calms down. . Thank you all for all your knowledge on hamsters will be definitely back on here instead of pet stores or other websites.
