Hamster with runny and smelly nose

My hamster’s been sick for a while now, runny nose and infected smelling. I took her to a rodent specialist vet, and even with anasthesia the vet cound’t tell what was wrong.
Granted, she wasn’t showing as many symptoms as she is now. She scratches her nose, smells weird, and her nose is red and snotty. I was just wondering if any of you know what this could be, so i can ask my vet about it. I’m taking her to the vet anyway though.

If it matters shes a syrian female 11 month old.

It’s difficult to know but it sounds as though there’s an infection of some sort, did the vet check her teeth? Problems with the teeth can affect the nose so her whole mouth, teeth & pouches would need to be checked.
Does she chew the bars of her cage (if she has a barred cage) or anything else that could have been rubbing against her nose area & causing a problem?
I’m not sure what to suggest but I hope the vet can. help her.

It sounds as if she needs reseen by the vets. As cypher said it may be the teeth. It could also be a pouch abscess or more worrying a tumour in the nasal cavity or one of the pouches. Everything in the nose / eyes and throat is connected and a discharge ends up coming out via the nose often. Sorry she is having such a hard time.

The vet checked the teeth and mouth, there was nothing except some irritation, probably because she’d been scratching her nose and mouth so much. Nothing in the pouches either

I’m hoping that because she is showing more symptoms now, the vet will be able to find out what it is. Fingers crossed

Do you think it could be a respiratory issue? Like an infection? One of my guinea pigs had that about 2 months ago
