I did notice the trixie coconut soil keeping humidity. I bought it because it was cheap and i kept it for a whole week to dry...still was a little humid. I just resorted to getting some planters and putting the soil inside and covering the ceramic planters with their own dish.

I also initially wanted to make an area with the trixie soil. I gave up because of the humidity but now in the ceramic pots, the hamsters can't get to it.

Hi! I've been checking the humidity inside the cage, I placed the thermometer on the soil and i've been taking notes to see the diferences.

The day I placed the thermometer in we had a storm, it got to 74% humidity while the one outside the cage was at 70%.

For the next two days it was around 3 - 4 points higher than the one outside but i think it might be because of how hight the humidity rised the stormy day, since then it dropped to only 1 - 2 points higher.

The soil is pretty much drie and the cage has good ventilation since the upgrade i made, do you think I should remove part of the soil? He is still sleeping on it most of the day, maybe instead of making the soil area smaller i could just remove part of it so it would be smaller in height and i supous it would prevent it from retaining humidity?

I would greatly decrease the size regardless. Coconut fiber is only safe when used properly, and using it properly means keeping it to a very small dry section for a variety of reasons including humidity as mentioned.

Reptile moss should be 100% safe providing it is 100% natural moss (dried). Where have you read that it's dangerous if they eat it?

I don't know if i'm attaching the image correctly but if i am, this is the area i placed the soil at first to check if he liked it, this is a 33x33 platform, do you think I should go back to this?

Btw, does anyone know a better way to attach the bridge to the platform so there's no gap between them?

I have coconut fibre soil which I would like to include in my boy's cage for a different texture. Though using plastic goes against my desire to have a natural setup I have Trixie litter trays (medium size as I have a syrian) and will purchase another for the soil to keep the cage clean and the soil (largely) contained.

As for the bendy bridge, one end of one of my bridges broke off, so I used Aqua Mate silicon to glue on a bit of plastic board clip (I am really failing at eliminating plastic) which grips the shelves of my boy's cage and leaves no gaps for limbs to get trapped.

As a follow up to my last message regarding the bendy bridges, these are images of my bendy bridge so you can see how effective it is if you were to consider my method.

Is that a pvc or aluminum profile? It's a really good idea! Thanks so much ^^
