what is this growth on my hamsters chest??

Hello everyone!!

I am new here so apologise for any mistakes with the page!!

My boy Des (russian dwarf) on Wednesday started dragging his back legs. He can still use them, saw him scratching 5min ago.

I went to a vet on Thursday and he couldn't feel a break and wasn't sure what is causing it. He mentioned some "bumps and lumps" and he wasn't worried about them.

We've noticed yesterday a bump on his chest close to the armpit and wasn't sure what it was. Looked scaley (not sure if right word) and brownish yellowish but dry.

Today it looked like he had a tiny bit of blood coming out of it but I might have imagined things

I have, hopefully successfully, attached some photos of the growth.

I dont know if I should be panicking since the vet wasn't worried..

If anyone could tell me what could this be, abscess, tumor, growth anything?!

Dear magdap I would be taking des back to the vet for them to have another look at him. Was the vet you saw initially a vet specialising in exoctics? If not, i would suggest finding one and getting an appointment. It could be a number of things and, as we know with hams, the quicker you get things diagnosed the better. I hope it is something that can be easily treated x

I can't really tell from the photos what it might be but I agree seeing the vet again is the best thing, if you're not confident that your vet knows enough about hams then try to find one with more ham experience if possible.
