Russian Hamster Scratch
Hi everyone!
I'm a little worried about my 1 year old and 2 months Russian hamster, he's been healthy all this time with me. However, since a few days ago I saw a small patch just on his right cheek that is red and seems like he's been scratching and hurting the wound. (I tried to take a pic but he's really active)
He's been eating and acting as usual but I'm not sure what this might be. I went to PetSmart today and they recommend me to buy a sand critter for him but I'm not convinced that the sand will help him.
Is there anyone who can give an idea about this? Or any recommendation? I'll really appreciate it!

Re: Russian Hamster Scratch
I completely understand the difficulty in photographing hams! That looks like it will be sore and I would recommend you send the piccie to your local exotics vet to get their view. It is encouraging that he is eating and acting normally although they are good at hiding their issues. I hope it is something that can easily be fixed. He may need some antibiotics but I would want to get a specialists vets view. Good luck x
