Please help!!
Hello, I’m new to Hamster central and I’m not sure if I’m even putting this message in the correct place but I’d really appreciate some advice on my hamster Gus. She is 1 year and 4 months and honestly just amazing. She seems more like a human than a hamster, sleeping on the sofa, always wanting cuddles and attention. It would hurt me a lot if something really bad happened to her.
On Saturday after I got home from work I picked her up for a cuddle and she seemed to have quite a bit of diarrhoea on her bottom. She was acting completely normal, running around, eating and drinking! So we left her to clean herself up a little and see how she got on because we assumed it could maybe be the new treats we got her and she could’ve had too many at once.
She continued to act as normal and had cleaned herself up a lot! It seemed like it was pretty much gone for a day or two. Then yesterday I picked her up for a cuddle again and realised she had something on her bottom and when I looked i couldn’t quite make out if it was wee or poo but it was dried on her fur, not wet. She’s still acting completely normal and just like her lovely little self but I cannot stop worrying about her. I would really appreciate if someone could help with some advice or what could be happening and if it’s anything major to worry about?

Re: Please help!!
I think you need to have her seen by a vet. The discharge could be from her womb and indicate a womb infection which can turn serious. Some females also have a heavier discharge when they are in heat.
It might be the food change so I would stick with just normal mix for now until you see if everything seems back to her usual self. Too much of a new thing can upset the tummy.
Watch her closely especially if she is drinking more and has any swelling in her tummy or has an odd smell to her.
