Thanks Chicleteer, so true, we do our best but sometimes i really wish they could talk to let us know what they want or need Maybe some of that comes with more experience, always something to learn I guess.

Thanks Kyrogrimr - at least I know about this for any future hammies on mushed up pellets - we live and learn

Hi Vierville, Thanks for asking. She's ok, still eating and drinking, has a little wander. The last few nights when she gets her 5 mins free roam she has been climbing up me like she used to, she hasn't done that in ages. She needs a bit of a boost from me to help her though, but she is still so determined to climb up.
I don't think she will last much longer though. Me and the rescue are surprised she lasted this long, when I adopted her I was meant to be adopting a baby, but I found out that it was harder to find homes for the older hamsters, so my heart won out and I adopted my old girl Star who was already about 18 months to 2 years old. I have had her 10.5 months now, so I have been very lucky to have her all this time.

Re: Stars feet going black?
Luna, I'm catching up on my HC reading this weekend and must tell you that my son saw your tag on another thread and started to tell me all about some of the videos he has seen of Star. Sounds like she is a special little lady! As you are working through the difficultly of her "slowing down" know that she has brought joy to others lives as well.

That is absolutley so sweet of you to let me know this. Made my day reading this. Tell your son thank you for watching Star's little videos, spreading my hamsters cuteness is why I make my little videos.
A lot of people love my little Star, she is my youngest nieces favourite.
Star is still poldding on in her old age, she is one stubborn old lady though and still makes me laugh, she certainly knows her own mind that little one.
Thank you again for your lovely comment.

Luna, you've been saying for months that Star is on her last legs, lol. She is one of these tough old birds, i know a couple of humans like that and once they do depart everyone is like, "whaat? no way!"
I'm glad she's still keeping you company and every five minutes she's out climbing must feel very precious to you. Enjoy!

I KNOW!!!! she has been on antibiotics and metacam since the end of last year. Everytime I think she is near the end, she rallies round and off she goes again. The other night she was up 4 times (she is normally only up once or twice just for food and a 5 min roam) and trying to go on her wheel several times bless her. I have to limit her free roaming as she would just keep on going till she collapses, so it is 5 mins at a time. She is one tough old girl and yes those times when she is clambering all over me are very precious to me.
