Default Old and possibly sick boy

Hi guys,

I have a 2 years and 8 month old syrian named Bruce.

In the last few days he has lost about 45-50% of his body weight, is having issues opening his eyes, lost about half of his fur. He is still eating and drinking but is rarely awake these days, and when he is moving around he is incredibly wobbly.

I guess I just need help working out if there is only 1 real course of action or if there is hope for a recovery.

What a great age your ham is, it does sound as it may be close to his time though, as this has happened so rapidly over the last few days it does sound as though his body is just beginning to shut down.
You could check with your vet to be sure there is no underlying illness but it is most likely just old age, if he's eating & drinking but sleeping most of the time & doesn't seem to be in any distress or discomfort he may be fine to spend his time peacefully at home but if he does show any signs of being in pain or distressed at all then it will be time to help him on his way.

I agree with cypher, an amazing age and this is the hardest part when you see your beloved ham deteriorating right before you. Just ensure you're with him and talking to him and ensure he's comfortable. Big hugs to you xx
