Question Hamster's fur looks oily/greasy

Hello, I recently brought a dwarf hamster home from the pet store and his fur looks a little oily. Is this normal? I've had him for 5 days and this is the second hamster I've ever owned but I'd still say I'm a beginner hamster owner.

Does he have a sand bath? Dwarf hamster need them to remove the oils from their fur since they can’t have water baths.

I agree a sand bath is essential & they love them too.
You can use chinchilla sand (not dust) or children's play sand which needs to be dried in the oven before use.

Thank you and I have never used sand baths for my hamster, are there any specially made for hamsters? And can chinchilla sand harm him? What happens if I don't give him a bath?

A good quality chinchilla sand, one that isn't too dusty won't harm him at all, I can't recommend one as I don't know which country you're in.
If you don't give him a sand bath his skin & coat won't be in really good condition & he'll be missing out on hours of fun too!
