Default Tea tree oil in skin products?

Hi so I obviously would never use tea tree oil on my hamster but Im wondering just quite how careful I should be about using it. I usually wash my hands before touching my hamster (unless he falls or something and I have to help him quickly) but I use tea tree skin products which obviously will remain on my hands especially the serum I use as it sinks into your skin. Im wondering if I should completely cut these products out of my skincare routine for snail’s sake or if I’m overreacting?
I also don’t think my soaps have it but some have tea tree oil in them and I dont know if that would also affect them? Anyone have any ideas?

Tea tree oil is considered unsafe for hamsters and for many good reasons. I would personally avoid it as much as humanly possible - even skin care could be irritating as they do have very delicate respiratory systems.

I don't think it's ever a bad idea to look deeper into products we use since they can definitely negatively impact our pets.

I know lavender has been known to be irritating to various rodent species so that should also be avoided. In my experience essential oils in something like castile soap that is physically washed off isn't as concerning if properly diluted, but I would still choose ones that aren't known to be irritating or harmful. Dr. Bronner's baby unscented(no essential oils which would be where the scent comes from in their other soaps - not synthetic fragrances which are not good for anyone) would be the best choice for cage cleaning and such where something stronger than vinegar and water but not too harsh is needed.
