Is there anything wrong with my hamster?
 

I may have allergies or a cold, and I keep one of my hamsters in my room.

Last week, Sammy has been sleeping a lot and I asked for advice in another forum. They told me to change his diet so I did.

My long-haired Syrian usually wakes up at around 8-9 PM then I would let him run around my room and he would be up until 7-8 AM.

A few weeks ago, he's been going to sleep early. He's not sneezing, lethargic
or have watery eyes at all. He eats a lot, goes on his wheel and seems healthy but he's been going to sleep early.

Last night, he was up at 8 PM and he went to sleep around before 1 AM

When I woke up, he was sleeping still. I tried to change his diet already.
I stopped giving him yogurt drops and I picked out almost all of the sunflower
seeds in his hamster mix. I clean his cage every week. I used Aspen bedding
but I ran out.

I bought Critter Care Natural bedding (grey) from Wal-Mart. It almost look like Carefresh so I thought it would be safe. Now, I just read from the internet that the grey stuff can trigger both human and animal allergies and tends to have a higher dust content.

I'm on my way to work and I can't change his bedding til later. And also, he's been sleeping a lot even before I used Critter Care Natural bedding.

Is there anything wrong with him? Does he have a cold? What should I do? :(

I dont think theres anything wrong with him!
My male syrian is one lazy boy, he sleeps most of the time, he doesnt wake up till 10pm and will be asleep by the time i get up for work 7am.
he used to be awake really early about 7pm-ish.

I have noticed though when im off work he does seem to be very active in the day time! which is odd but ive worked out thats why he sleeps so much at night.

How old is your hamster?

Hrmm.. same thing goin on with my hamster. My hamster is dwarf hamster.. I have three hamster, 2 females and 1 male... The male like to sleep alot. He sleep when the other 2 is wake up and very active... and when the females sleep, he wakes up and get active.. I wonder why? 0_o

how old is he???
Now peggys older shes sleeping loads which i admit has got me worried.
i wouldn't worry even if hes not old neither of mine have a regular pattern. Sometimes they have lazy days others they are hyper :)

Sammy is at least 6 months old. I just find it odd last night he was only up for 4 hours. Also, I think when he hears certain music, it makes him feel sleepy. I remember he kept running around my room and when I checked on him, he was sleeping on the carpet -_- then he went back inside his cage before 1 AM.

I'm just really worried I might have gotten him sick since >.<

I think they are up a lot more, but staying in their houses, in the dark, feeling safe. Sometimes i can hear my hamster in the night in his house.

Toffee is a lazy little so-and-so. He will run all over me in my armchair and climb around inside my jumper for a while, but then he likes to snuggle up and let me stroke him for up to half an hour. Then he'll yawn and stretch as if he's run a marathon! When I put him back in the cage, he then goes back into his little house until after we go to bed. I assume he uses the wheel because we put a mark on it and it had moved by the morning, but I've never seen him in it in the cage. I've come to the conclusion that he's just a lazy little porker. :)

i don't know if my hamster is active during the day since i'm never home in the morning because i usually leave my house to go to work or my practicum before 8 or 9.

so i don't know why he sleeps so much =| maybe hamsters do have their "lazy days" lol

aww, that's so cute! sammy would climb all over me when I'm on my bed or sometimes when I'm standing around, he would start climbing up my leg by holding on to my pyjamas lol. i wish i could snuggle up with mine and let me stroke him for half an hour.
