Small dark lump on hamster hip
Hi, there not been on here for a while but I have a query about my hamster (Syrian).
When handling him I noticed a significant dark lump on his hip next to his scent gland. I've heard that this is it but he only has this lump on one side of his hip (left) not the other. I'm worried this is some sort of tumour.
It is dark in colour, about the size of a water bottle ball bearing and he doesn't appear to be in any pain or distress when it is touched. His current activity and appetite are completely normal which is a good sign.
Just wondering what this could be and if it is his scent gland, why is it only on one side and not the other?
Thank you for any answers or advice!

Re: Small dark lump on hamster hip
It's not normal to have a lump there & it does sound as though it's a significant size, I would speak to your vet about it & see what they think.
