Exclamation Please help, my hamster is sleeping all the time

Hi guys, this is my first time on a forum like this but I have become so concerned about my little Peanut that I need some advice.
(For background i've raised hamsters since I was a child so feel like I have a good basic knowledge but I am by no way an expert!)
I adopted my hamster Peanut a year and a half ago, he was returned to a pet store and I can't be certain how old he was when I got him or how he was treated by his previous owners, if I had to guess he was about a year old already and hadn't been treated well, he was super skittish and would literally scream at the sound of the hoover! he took a lot of care but now he's my little darling who usually follows me round the house in his hamster ball (he even does a bit of recall!!)
now peanut lived with me in my last student house which during the winter could get quite cold on occasion so I know when he's just being sleepy because of the cold, and after a few days he would be back to his old self (I bought a mini heater to stop this from happening in the end, just don't tell my housemates!!) but recently he's temperament has changed completely, he used to love being out in his ball, he would be out for an hour or so, id put him back in his cage for a drink and some food, then he would be jumping at the bars to be let back out! he would do wall of death round the living room! but now he just sleeps all the time, (I work funny shifts so am often still awake in the early hours so know he isn't waking up in the night) I sometimes have to wake him up just to make sure he's not dead and he takes ages to come round, I can be stroking him for a while before he even acknowledges that im there and begins to wake up, even when he does wake up he just pads around his cage and isn't interested in anything, he has a nibble at some of his food but then just stores it away and has a quick drink of water. I've started adding vitamin drops to his food and water to try and help with his energy levels but its done nothing. his diet consists hamster muesli, some fresh fruit twice a week, either a slice of strawberry or something similar, other days he gets something leafy like spinach or kale, and has taken to mealworms occasionally (not live) recently i've been giving him more monkey nuts because its the only thing he really takes an interest in, but even then he doesn't eat the peanut inside just strips the shell away. when I get him out in his ball he just falls asleep in it, even if I leave him out in the middle of the room, which he wouldn't normally do, he'd normally hide under a table or in a corner before he fell asleep.
recently peanut had suffered from a bit of hair loss on the back of his body around his two hind legs, I immediately removed anything that could have been rubbing and causing this and his fur seems to have come back even though it is still a little thin but I suspect that just needs more time to grow.
essentially ive tried everything, introducing new toys etc adjusting his diet trying to help with his energy but nothing is working, i'm worried he's entering like a hibernate state or if due to his age and bad start in life this is his old age and he won't be around for much longer.
please help, any advice would be greatly appreciated
