Exclamation My hamster needs help !!

Hello all, my hamsters name is scurry. Tonight I was feeding him when I noticed he had a rash below his mouth (under neck area) the area is super red and fur-less and he occasionally scratches it. It was not like that a couple days ago and I could really use some advice on this. I haven’t changed I’m anything with him recently besides his food I started giving him broccoli but that’s the only difference in his life lately

It could be mites, ringworm (a fungal infection, not really a worm!) or eczema. I would suggest a visit to an exotic animal vet.

Does he chew his water bottle at all? Often if they do this the constantly wet chin makes they sore. If he does take it off and replace with a small bowl for now. This can also be caused by the teeth being too long or uneven causing the hamster to drool a lot and the wet chin gets sore. Try and see if the teeth seem OK. The bottom ones are surprisingly long but the should not be different lengths and not poking in to the roof of the mouth, He would need seen by it vet if they are for trimming. Are the pouches full? Again impacted pouches can cause drooling and this can cause a bad smell to the breath as well.
