Squeaking noises
So lately my hamster has been making squeaking noises. It seems like something to do with her breathing cause she makes them as she breathes, when she's more panicked the squeaking will become quicker and louder. After doing research I have only found why hamsters do normal squeaks (fear, happiness, being attacked, etc).
She doesn't seem to be squeaking all the time, only every now and then and it all seemed to begin when I changed her cage to a larger size.
I do use paper-based bedding (kaytee clean and cozy) so I know that the bedding is not the problem, but I don't know what is. I'm not sure whether I should take her to the vets because I don't want to end up spending £70 for them to say that the noises are just normal, I would like some advice before making my mum drive me and the hamster to the vet and spending my hamster savings fund.

Re: Squeaking noises
does she make them while doing something she enjoys? i TOTALLY understand you dont want to pay so much money for something the vet could possibly brush off, im in the same boat currently! maybe shes just content and really happy whilst doing something she loves. or even just happier with the larger space! monitor her to make sure the squeaking doesnt get much worse, then i would get concerned. but as of right now i wouldnt be to worried, if you are truly concerned you can call the vets and ask their opinion on if you should bring her in or not. hopefully shes okay.

Thank you so much, that has helped me relax more. It's because she only does it every now and then, when she does it I freak out and when she doesn't I just think she's fine. That's a good suggestion about calling the vets, I will do that thank you 😊
