Default Travelling with a hamster

Is it okay to travel with a hamster? It would involve a one-hour (approx) car journey and around two and a half hours on a ferry. This would be to bring a new dwarf home with me as our local garden centre (currently the only option) isn't able to supply one just now. I've been waiting 6 weeks, and it keeps getting postponed due to storms / snow etc. I know it's not ideal, and I would have to check whether the ferry would allow the hamster to stay with me (ie not on the car deck due to diesel fumes and low temperatures), but I'm really missing Theo since she passed away, and would like another as soon as possible.

Please could anyone advise?

Is it okay to keep two robos together in the same enclosure (a detolf)? Would appreciate any advice.

(Oops, sorry, meant to start another thread for this!)

As a one off I think the journey would be fine. Hamsters are delivered to pet shops in vehicles after all, and often will travel quite long journeys as many pet shops buy animals from national distributers.

I agree with Sushi, as a one off it would be fine, just make sure you have some food and cucumber to keep hydrated.

As a one off journey it should be fine, put plenty of substrate in your carrier & your ham will most likely just burrow down & sleep most of the time. It would probably be an idea to have something to cover the carrier with if things get noisy or your ham gets stressed at all, only briefly but it can help if need be.
