Default What to do when owner is ill?

I'm really ill at the moment - I can barely speak and have a cold/cough.

I am obviously not going to handle my hammies (even though it saddens me)

What is the best course of action to take to ensure that they don't catch what I have?

They live in the same room as me, so I want to make sure no bacteria/germs get to them and make them ill

Can either you or the hamsters move to a different room until you are well again? That would be the obvious solution i guess. Hope you are feeling better soon .

There's no space for them to go at all

If you don't handle them the hamsters will be fine.

i wouldn't think that them being in the smae room should be a problem (as long as you don't like cough/sneeze over the cages obviously)
Defintely get some antibacterial gel and put some by the side of the cage so it can be used by not only you, even if your not handling them, but by whoever is looking after them for you.

It is not ideal to keep them in the same room as hamsters are suseptable to human cold and flu viruses however if it is not possible to move them out then keep them as far from you and the bed as possible and use a scoop to feed them. They wont come to any harm with no handling for a few days so careful handwashing and not breathing near them is the best policy.
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks all for your advice
I am still ill (not good, as I have tons of work to do aha) and have been feeding them with a scoop. My mum has handled Sprout a few times downstairs, and they have all been in their hammy balls downstairs too, so they are still getting exercise and love...just off my mum instead, as I have the plague

Still keeping an eye on them in the case of any symptoms of a cold, but hopefully it should not come to that x
